Rusty Paul has been re-elected as the Mayor of Sandy Springs, Georgia.

The election was settled in a runoff election held yesterday, Tuesday, December 2, 2025.

Key Details of the Election

  • Result: Rusty Paul (Incumbent) won the runoff election.
  • Opponent: He defeated challenger Dontaye Carter.
  • Victory Margin: Paul won with a decisive margin, securing approximately 69.3% of the vote against Carter’s 30.7%.
  • Term: This victory secures a fourth consecutive term for Mayor Paul.
  • Context: The election was forced into a runoff because, during the general election on November 4, 2025, no candidate received more than 50% of the vote. Paul had led the initial four-person race but needed the runoff to secure the majority.

Mayor Paul, a former Chairman of the Georgia Republican Party, was first elected in 2013, making him the city’s second mayor since its incorporation
